COSTA RICA: ADVANTAGES

COSTA RICA: REQUIREMENTS

• Invest at least $200,000 USD in one of the following categories approved by the government:
  • Real estate;
  • Shares and bonds;
  • Active companies;
  • Forest values of plantations;
• Register with the Costa Rican consulate of your country of your origin;
• Register with Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (Costa Rican Social Security Fund) and meet an inspector in order to determine your eligibility as an investor in the country;
• Obtain a social security card called EBAIS in Costa Rica;
• Register your fingerprint at the Ministry of Security.

COSTA RICA: PROCESS

The application procedure for a Costa Rican investor visa from the beginning of application all the way to obtaining citizenship can be found below. Inimex will make sure its team assists you at every step in order to maximize the application’s success.

After deliberation, if you and your family decide to emigrate via Costa Rica’s investor program, you will encounter the following process:

1. We perform a preliminary consultation, during which we inform you in details of all matters such as administrative challenges and processes, education of your children and health care solutions for your future life in Costa Rica;
2. We prepare and legalize all the required documents according to certain  standards. We will be right by your side for any correction and other necessary procedures;
3. Our team of certified translators convert all documents into Spanish administratively used by the Costa Rican government;
4. We finalize your application with our group of immigration lawyers and specialists on Central American immigration. They inspect your documents for one last check before sending it to your local Costa Rican consulate;
5. The Costa Rican consulate in your country of origin validates all the documents submitted by our team;
6. A visa is issued within a couple of weeks;
7. You may come to Costa Rica in order to open a bank account so that your income may be directly transferred, as well as choose a property to rent or to purchase so that your family would have a legitimate address in the country;
8. We make the final payments of government fees for your case;
9. Upon the receipt of our payment, you will receive your residence permit, which is valid for 2 years and renewable as long as you keep meeting the requirements laid out before;
10. Additionally, in order to maintain them, you must not be away from the country for more than 6 consecutive months during the first two years;
11. Once you have had legal residence in Costa Rica for at least 3 years and have been physically present in the country for more than 6 months in total, you may apply for permanent residency;
12. After living in Costa Rica for 7 years, you may be eligible to apply for citizenship. This requirement may be lowered to 5 years if you are from Spain or another Latin American country.
