IMMIGRATION Program 2

PORTUGAL

PORTUGAL: OUR MISSION

Portugal has attracted a vast number of newcomers over the last years because of its pleasing weather, unique culture, advanced economy and high living standards. The country is also highly placed in rankings of moral freedom, peacefulness, democracy and prosperity and is part of the United Nations, the European Union and the Schengen Area.

All foreign citizens who wish to reside in Portugal as retired or with their own income can apply for the D7 visa as long as they prove that they have the means of subsistence required to stay in the country without working. Therefore, retirees or holders of their own income can reside in Portugal. They will obtain the status of non-habitual residents and, therefore, be exempt from taxation related to those income or pensions obtained outside Portugal, provided that they have already been taxed in their country of origin.

The Inimex team has already accompanied many people through their journey to a Portuguese residence. Indeed, our experts have plenty of knowledge and experience about immigration in Portugal. They are lawyers, brokers, translators, real estate specialists, tax advisors and so on. They will do everything in their capacity to make the process as easy as possible for you. There will be nothing to worry about since our team will take care of your file and provide you with all the information you need to make the best decisions.

We included all the relevant information for you in this page. If you have any questions or would like to book a consultation with us, contact our team. We would be glad to provide you with any help possible.

PORTUGAL: REQUIREMENTS

In order to apply for a D7 visa, the applicant must:

  • Prove that he or she possesses the financial means to live and stay in Portugal without working. The required amount will depend on the number of people who intend to live in the country and the actual minimum income in Portugal;
  • Find a suitable accommodation in Portugal;
  • Subscribe to medical insurance.

In order to calculate the amount of funds required to live in Portugal, you must refer to the minimum monthly income in Portugal. You need to bring 100% of this amount for yourself, 50% for your spouse and other accompanying adults and 30% for dependent children.

For instance, if we consider the minimum wage in 2017, which is 557 euros, you would need €557 for yourself, €289 euros for your spouse and €173 for each dependent child. Therefore, you would need to prove minimum funds of approximately €1200 per month to support a family with two children.
