ADVANTAGES

The Brazilian residence comes with many advantages, such as:

    1. A tropical and subtropical climate;
    2. A massive coastline that is 7,491 km long which means there are over 2000 beaches to choose from;
    3. Access to public health care;
    4. An economy growing at one of the fastest rates in the world;
    5. A great location in South America: Brazil borders a number of other South American countries, such as Bolivia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana;
    6. An expressive culture : get prepared for people greeting you enthusiastically, making you feel at home and celebrating festivities such as the popular Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro;
    7. A tremendous amount of biodiversity : Brazil is home to one in 10 known animal species;
    8. Many wonderful places to visit such as the Amazon rainforest, Iguaçu Falls, Sugarloaf Mountain and the record-breaking Pantanal Wetlands. Even then, you will have barely scratched the surface of Brazil’s stunning landscapes;
    9. Children born in Brazil may acquire the Brazilian nationality;
    10. Free and unlimited movement through South American countries : they have their own version of the European Union, with visa-free, or even passport-free travel between many countries.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to request the Brazilian investor visa, the following requirements need to be met:

    1. Invest at least R $ 150,000  (approximately €23,000 or $26,000 USD) in an existing Brazilian business or a new company. If the visa is intended for a manager, director or executive management, the minimum investment required is R $ 500,000 (approximately €90,000 or $106,000);
    2. The company must create jobs (based on the company’s business plan);
    3. The company must be located in Brazil;
    4. Submit the application for a CPF (Brazilian Social Security Number);
    5. Open a business bank account for the company in any Brazilian bank;
    6. Acquire or rent a property in Brazil for the entire intended stay;
    7. Stay in the country at least 6 months per year to maintain the residency.

An immigration investor visa will be valid for three years. After 3 years, you will have to present documents confirming that the business continues to work. The immigration authorities will then give you the next visa, and the business can be closed.

Permanent residence in Brazil (permanent visa) is not an unconditional immigration status once and for all. If a foreigner with a permanent visa wishes to return to his home country for more than two years, then he loses the right to permanent residence in Brazil.

Citizenship of Brazil by sole: any person born in Brazil acquires Brazilian nationality at birth, irrespective of the status of parents.

Naturalisation: You can apply for Brazilian citizenship after 4 years of residence in the country. The naturalisation period can be decreased to 3 years if the applicant purchases a property worth at least USD 200,000. A Brazilian passport is a document for visa-free travel, allowing you to visit all EU countries, UK and New Zealand without the need for a visa.

  2. Extraordinary naturalisation applies to foreigners who have been residing in Brazil long-term. The applicant must have resided in Brazil for a minimum of 15 years with CRNM with permanent classification.
  3. Provisional naturalisation applies to foreign minors in Brazil who have obtained a CRNM with permanent classification before the age of 10. There is no minimum period of residence to apply for provisional naturalisation, as long as the foreigner has permanent residence. Since the foreign national applicant is a minor, naturalisation must be applied for by his/her legal guardian or legal representative.
    Once an alien applicant reaches the age of 18, they may convert their provisional naturalisation into permanent naturalisation.
